Happy Independence Day #249!!!

Today is 249 years since we declared our independence as a nation. Our founders mutually pledged "to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor". This changed the course of history for the world. It is interesting to me that we celebrate our birth from the moment we made this declaration not from when we won the war that made the future of this dream possible.

Since that day we have had valiant men and women serve their country and give the ultimate sacrifice to secure this nation. We would not enjoy the rights and the freedoms we do today without their sacrifice. Some gave everything, and some signed a blank check to the nation, to their fellow citizens, and were fortunate enough that it was never cashed.

On this day it is worth reflecting on the Declaration of Independence. Read it and discuss it with your family. Have your BBQ, light some fireworks, but remember what it is we are celebrating.
